My style resolutions for 2018!
Get rid of the pieces I don’t wear (for realz)
I’ve had an ongoing pile of giveaway that my husband so kindly just dropped off at the Goodwill. But as I stand in my closet this year, there are still SO many pieces I can truthfully say I haven’t worn in a hot minute. Probably longer.
Cleaning out my closet gives me anxiety, and I’m pretty terrible at it. Purging clothing is not my thing. As I go piece by piece, I try to ask myself all those things you’re supposed to ask. When was the last time you wore it? Does it make me shine when I put it on? So on. Even when my answer to these questions isn’t what it should be, I always think oh, maybe I will need it eventually and I just keep moving on to the next piece. So my first style resolution for the year is to get rid of those pieces that aren’t special or essential. Don’t worry, I’m sure to replace them in no time. 😉
Keep up the whole wearing-more-color thing
Once the fall trend of wearing color hit, I was in. I loved seeing NYFW street style photos flooded with colors. Muted knits became bold and brave. Boots took on new life in red and purple and pink. So now that fall has passed, it’s possible this trend could dip a little, but I am not going to remove it from my wardrobe.
Invest in pieces other than denim
My closet is truly a mix from various fast fashion retailers from Forever 21 to ASOS to Topshop. The only majority of items in my closet that I have invested in are jeans. And that’s great because quality denim can completely transform a look. But I don’t have a single nice t-shirt or wear anywhere knit that will last me forever. It’s a little weird to say this out loud because anyone will tell you there are pieces you should invest in, and I just haven’t. And as someone living and breathing fashion, that’s a little weird. So this year I’ll be sure to pick up a few nice pieces that aren’t denim that will be staples in my wardrobe.
Purchase a handful of dresses that can be worn multiple ways, multiple occasions
